Friday Progress Report: Fabriganza fun

This was the week of not getting much accomplished. I normally get plenty done over the weekend, but I had a bridal shower and bachelorette party in Chicago. I had a great time, but ended up with food poisoning from eating duck testicles. Long story, even longer time spent in the bathroom.

Christmas Panel5

Once I finally could keep food down again, the quilting commenced. I finished piecing a quick Christmas panel quilt top. You can read all about it in this post.

Then my attention turned back to my maple leaf log cabin. Before I left town, I stopped by Fabriganza, the annual blowout sale at Expressions in Thread, in LeClaire, Iowa. Once a year the shop rents out the community center and fills banquet tables with bolts they want to clear out.

You’ve got to buy at least a yard, but there are prices as low as $4 and nothing is more than $6. I picked up five yards of quality, name brand quilting fabric for my maple leaf log cabin quilt for less than $30. That’s one heck of a steal and I think I have enough fabric now to finish the quilt.

Maple Leaf Log Cabin

And speaking of the maple leaf log cabin, I make six more maple leaf blocks. Now I’ve just got to add the log cabin strips to have a full 12-inch block. I’m hoping to get a dozen done by the end of the weekend. That will make 52 of 64 blocks.

What have you all been working on?
