2014 Block of the Month

Quilt Design

Alright quilters, it’s time to challenge your sewing skill set with the Quilt Addicts Anonymous 2014 Block of the Month.

Each month you’ll learn a new tips, tricks and efficiencies that will improve your quilting and give you the chance to try new blocks you might not want to make an entire quilt from.

You’ll learn how to make half-square, quarter-square triangles, double pinwheels and flying geese units from squares, tips for speeding up your cutting, how to measure and attach borders that aren’t wavy and plenty more, and it will all be free.

Each month I’ll post the instructions for a new block, and a video tutorial on how to make it.

Plus, you’ll have a quilt large enough for a king- or queen-sized bed when the year is over, not some dinky lap-sized sampler the dogs will drool over on the couch.

Bookmark this page or subscribe to the RSS feed and check back on January 1, for the first tutorial. First up is the center four blocks. I’m making two quilts in two colorways to help show how you can make this project your own.

    1. Debi- I added a new subscribe button above the search bar. Just click on it and you’ll have the option to subscribe via email. You’ll get every post, not just the Block of the Month, but that’s the easiest way to make sure you don’t miss a month.

  1. Is the light pink in the fabric requirements for the background? The diagram is showing light purple on my screen but your actual blocks look like white background in the videos. I’m seriously considering this quilt since we have a king bed and I’ve just started quilting. All of the different blocks will be great practice.

    1. The differences in colors you are seeing are likely the result of subtle color variations between monitors. But you are free to use whatever colors you want to create this quilt. That’s part of the fun and it is why I am creating the quilt in two different colorways to show how your fabric choices an change the look of the entire quilt.

  2. Since I am a newbie I’ve went to Craftsy and gotten all the blocks so far but I can’t figure out how to save the very first one that shows all the material you will need for everything.
